On a brilliant sunny morning when we collected eight ladies from Lockerbie and Lochmaben for a trip to Dumfries House. We travelled through beautiful Dumfriesshire countryside before stopping in Thornhill. We had morning coffee along with delicious homemade scones at Thomas Tosh. Afterwards the ladies enjoyed shopping in Thornhill’s many independent shops.
Arriving at Dumfries House we all had a wonderful lunch in the Coach House Café. The ladies decided to do the Grand Tour of the house and were fascinated by its history and how the house and contents were saved from being broken up in 2007. After touring the house, there was time for a wander in the grounds and see the current projects being undertaken at the Laundry and Sawmill. We had afternoon tea in the Coach House Café before travelling home.
Leaving Dumfries House we travelled south into Dumfriesshire passing through the beautiful hills and glens that surround Wanlockhead and Leadhills.
We were delighted that everyone enjoyed their day out and we look forward to welcoming the ladies on another tour with us. Today’s glorious weather highlighted how stunning the countryside and scenery is in the South West of Scotland.
