Heather York’s Ancestral Journey to Crawfordjohn

Heather and Maurice York from Australia were joined by her distant cousin Elma on an ancestral tour to South Lanarkshire. At Crawfordjohn Heather was delighted to ‘meet’ her great great grandparents – parents of her great grandfather, Andrew Williamson, who emigrated to New Zealand in the 1860s. Heather’s ancestry can be traced back to her four time great grandparents at Crawfordjohn.

Crawfordjohn Parish Church has long since closed, however it is now a fabulous Heritage Museum which records the history and culture of the parish. Anyone who had Crawfordjohn ancestry and is interested in researching their lineage, the museum has a wonderful archive of research material. For more information visit Crawfordjohn Heritage Venture website.
