Outlander Road Trip

Outlander Day Trip

Lallybroch, Castle Leoch, Fort William & Abbey of Ste. Anne de Beaupré

I recently had a fantastic day visiting four Scottish castles used during the filming of Outlander Series One:

Midhope Castle – Lallybroch – Jamie’s family home. (Top left photograph)
The castle is owned by Hopetoun Estates and is on private land. Contact the estate office to arrange a visit.

Doune Castle – Castle Leoch – Home of the Clan MacKenzie and hotbed of intrigue, conspiracy and deception. (Top right photograph)
The castle is owned by Historic Scotland and is open to the public all year round.

Blackness Castle – Fort William – ‘Black Jack’ Randall’s headquarters. (bottom left photograph)
The castle is owned by Historic Scotland and is open to the public all year round.

Aberdour Castle – Abbey of Ste. Anne de Beaupré – Jamie was taken here following his escape from Wentworth Prison. (Bottom right photograph)
The castle is owned by Historic Scotland and is open to the public all year round.

Doune Castle - Claire & Murtagh

Claire and Murtagh made a surprise visit to Castle Leoch during the visit!

More photographs of my Outlander Road Trip can be found on Borders Journeys Facebook.

I recently visited Prestonkirk Mill used during Series One Episode 12 – Lallybroch  and Glencorse Old Kirk where Jamie and Claire were married during Series One Episode 7 – The Wedding.

Have you ever dreamed of standing on the steps of Lallybroch or visiting the stones at Craigh na Dun?

I will create a tailor-made Outlander tour for you where you will walk in the footsteps of Jamie and Claire and follow their adventures. You will discover the places that inspired Diana Gabaldon’s writings along with visiting Outlander film locations. Your tour will give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty, history and culture of Scotland – some of which will be very familiar to Jamie and Claire.
