One of the jewels of Northumberland is the idyllic island of Holy Island or Lindisfarne. Appropriately named the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the island has been a religous community since St. Aidan built the first monastery in 635AD. Today’s visitors to Holy Island enjoy visiting the Lindisfarne Centre, Castle and Priory.
Guided walks of the island can be arranged. Please let Ian know at the time of booking whether you would like a guided walk. Cost will depend on the number of visitors in the walking party.
From Melrose we travel east passing through Kelso towards the Scottish/English border at Coldstream. We head towards Berwick-upon-Tweed before heading south where we cross the causeway to Holy Island. After spending the day on the island we will return to the mainland before returning to Melrose via Coldstream and Kelso.
Leaving from the Abbey Car Park, Melrose at 8.00am with agreed pick-ups en-route. Returning to Melrose approx 8pm. Drop offs as requested. Please note the early start as the causeway closes at 10.20am and then re-opens at 1.50pm.
Please note that this tour will go ahead with a minimum of 5 passengers.
